It’s always a buzz being offered a pass for one of the biggest bands in the world, so i was rather excited about photographing Linkin Park earlier this month. I used to love LP back when nu metal was at its height, but I’ve slowly gone off them over the years. Anyway, that’s not to say I don’t respect what they’ve achieved and admire how many records they’ve sold – they’ve taken something pretty close to metal to the masses. Shooting them was a challenge, they had an interesting stage shape that meant we could get close but the lighting was really poor for an arena gig – certainly compared to other LG Arena gigs I’ve covered. One of my bets shots of the night was lit by the flash of someone in the front row of the crowd! Still, I got some keepers and am pleased with the ones I’m sharing with you here.
It would have been nice to have proper arena lighting but you can’t win them all!
Camera: Canon EOS 20D
Lenses: Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 and Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8
Flash: not allowed (unless you’re in the crowd!)
I was photographing this show for The Daily Dust and you can find out more about Linkin Park here. Also, earlier this year I photographed Linkin park’s friend and collaborator Jay-Z and you can view those pics right here.
